>>186480You know what? I've lived in Phoenix my whole life, and I've been to the Bahamas and Massachusetts in the peak of summer, and here's what I have to say:
Phoenix's heat is worse. There is literally nothing that can prepare you for the heat. It is insane. You can actually feel pressure from the direct heat from the sun on your skin and clothes, almost as if it has weight. The ambient air is so hot you begin to dry up within minutes, and you can't cool off because it's still at least 105F in the shade, and the wind is hot. And I don't mean warm, or muggy, or any of that shit. I mean HOT WIND. You can't go swimming because the direct heat makes even huge-sized pools go up to like 90F. In the water. I want you to think about that. Also, we in the valley have far more heat stroke deaths than humid places. You know why? Because the humidity has water in the atmosphere, while there is none in the desert. If you don't have water for one day, the heat will actually kill you. It will suck the water out of your body and leave you a dessicated corpse. Shit man, Karl Bushby spent 5 years walking from the southern tip of Chile to Arizona (and then to Russia), all through the jungles during the middle of summer, and even he wrote in his book that he was unprepared for the Sonoran heat.
Pic related. This man was found only 6 hours after he was lost in the desert.
