If you want something for griz you can get a drop in 10mm barrel for it and some 10mm mags and still be well under $600 for a bombproof backcountry set up (a new 10mm glock 20 will be north of that, but involves less tinkering if you're not handy with firearms). Lightly used LEO service pistols come in stock on this website from time to time, keep an eye out if you're interested.

Combined with a kydex trigger sheath ($25) I've never worried about carrying a loaded chamber with a safetyless glock even through rough terrain.
