Raising a steer for two years vs slaughtering it at just one year old? Should I even bother raising cattle if I’m not patient enough to wait two years? Would it not be cost efficient since the animal wasn’t raised to max size before it would have to be fed just to “maintain” instead of grow? Wouldn’t it cost less to graze & feed a cow, her new calf, and her almost year old calf instead of a cow, her new calf, her one year old, AND her almost two year old?
