After riding south for a while, I passed one of my least favorite areas of the trip. The towns of Black Hawk and Central City don't allow people to bicycle on their streets. They're also built around casinos, and the road out of Central City to the I-70 corridor was really steep.
The I-70 corridor itself was unpleasant mostly due to the tremendous amount of traffic through it. I didn't ride on the interstate itself here, but even the side roads were busy.
A couple days further south, I took a day off to climb Mount Princeton. I figured I couldn't leave Colorado without climbing at least one '14er'. Unfortunately, I got hailed and rained on at the top, but it was still a positive experience, at least in retrospect. At the time, all I could think about was not slipping on the rocks and how cold my hands were.
