>>119640>It's a fair indicator. Look at how many crimes are committed by those wielding guns. Look at how many are murdered by guns. Then look at how many crimes are actively prevented by guns, how many lives saved. Then apply the simple axiom "the greatest good for the greatest number"When you count defensive uses of a firearm NOT involving the weapon being discharged, guns prevent four times as many crimes.
>More have used them to commit crimesProvably false as demonstrated by studies from the UN and Harvard University.
>Like smoking or consuming 5000+ HFCS laden calories daily? The core failing to your viewpoint is that when people choose that not owning a firearm is best for them their kids get shot at school by someone who chose that owning a gun was best for them & that going on a killing spree with it was best for them.Risk is inherent in Freedom. And your analogy falls apart when you attempt to compare all murder to smoking or overeating. One is the ultimate crime, the others are are choices one makes for themselves that they must suffer the consequences of.
As for Mass Shootings, statistically, they're quite rare and the worst event like this was the Bath Township School Massacre of 1927 and that was done by someone with a homemade bomb.
