So me and my wife's son are shooting the mini and his SKS in northern NY near a price chopper and neighborhood kinda but at a berm and legally far away from everything. So first the DEC rolls up and talks to us a bit, then the staties and townies behind him. They were whining about my having 10 rounds loaded in magazines and the fully loaded 8rnds in the SKS even though an sks doesn't even have detachable mags. After bullshitting with us, fingerfucking the guns, them mocking the newbie for never seeing a mini-14, telling me to get a scope and telling the neighbors that everything we did was absolutely technically legal they let us go. I think the DEC bro saved our ass in the long run though. If the staties showed up first they might have tried to say oy vey technically I should have only loaded 7 rounds and I would have had to go to court. It could have went worse but it could be better. Such is life outside of NYC in this state.
