I put some small busted wet wood and alcohol soaked lint in there and light it and off starts the next fire. While I am home it burns around 500-550 degrees and when I’m not here I use my damper to close it down to around 350. I don’t want my wood burning up fast like dry wood does. It’s be different if I had a masonry stove but with an iron stove like I have I want slow, continuous burning to give heat longer.
