Not just lasting 10-20 years of hardly any use at all. I own knives & a machete that my great grandfathers and great grandmother used. They are all carbon steel and I use them weekly; almost daily. They usually only need a bit of touch up honing while SS knives need a lot more care for the same amount of work. Cheaper SS needs even more work to maintain a proper edge, even from the most light duty use. I'm not keen on redoing edge angles because the metal is simply too soft.
>>1499083Folders are for your pockets. Fixed blades are for your waist. You shouldn't clutter up your waist area with more knives. That is as bad as using a neck knife. If you need to use small knives for dedicated bushcraft then get a wood carving kit so that you have all the proper blades for the specific cuts that are needed.
