Call me paranoid, but the recent Typhoon Haiyan seems to be only one of many catastrophes to come, thanks to global warming. I'm more and more concerned about being tied down to one place.
That being said, has anyone ever considered what it would take to live a truly self-sufficient lifestyle on the road? I've been waiting for mobile solar panels to go down in price so I can attach them to my bike's panniers, and the suggestions made in these innawoods guides seems legit.
But maybe I'm naive. What are your thoughts on how you'd outrun the coming XK-class end of the world scenarios? I'm more interested in seeing how recent/coming inventions could make living on the road even more feasible than it was before. I'm talking solar power, 3D printing, advances in preventative medicine, etc.
