I'm going camping after September to a lake that has both trout and catfish. I plan to fish early morning for trout and late in the evenings for catfish, and want to narrow down to 1 setup because I will be hiking and backpacking.
I think I'm going to go with the Pen Pursuit 3000 for my reel, with 8lb Berkley Vanish.
As for the rod, I want something long so I can cast far because the banks gradually drop off. It's more of a lake for kayaks and jon boats.
I've been thinking of the 7' Ugly Stik Elite Medium action but I was wondering if there was something in the 8-9' range that is still under $50?
