you'll have to pay taxes on that land somehow, you'll need permits for your shack, stove, etc. i assume you'll need to hunt/trap, again permits and red tape and short hunting season restrictions. you can plant crops but there are permits involved in any structures and possibly if you want to sell veggies for money to pay your taxes.
you're better off doing this out in nepal or someplace not so first-world
