Don’t be afraid to buy gear off craigslist. My first full kit was all used, spent about 1k for everything. I have a decent idea of what I’m looking at before I buy, but I always get it serviced after buying. Don’t be afraid to ask to get it looked at if you’re unsure. Tanks are often great used, especially if they have a hydro. I’d recommend buying your own reg and BCD once you know what you like. Computers are often expensive and not really necessary if you only do one dive at a time and <60ft, nice to have but not a need to have.
