Anyways since we were visiting from out of state my impressions were that it was a LOT of driving to one place from the next, but also that the roads tended to be fairly wide and paved and often multilane compared to WV like random interstates in the middle of nowhere. Also a bit more developed and less impoverished, but plenty of poverty pockets.
I really barely only scratched the surface and there's plenty more to see, and we didn't get south of the VA/KY border at all really except like a quick stop into Cumberland Gap, TN to see the co-op art store (which I highly recommend and got this paining there)
