>>2096376 It doesn't sap any from the soil if you build it right. fresh logs can temporarily sap nitrogen. Old decayed logs are already at capacity usually. When you make the mount you want to dump a ton of manure or clippings into it so the logs soak that up instead. And then the first planting on top should be clover or similar nitrogen fixer. after that you can go ham with whatever.
