1. look like what you've deduced ahead of time THEY like. if you're of their preffered gender look attractive, if sexual attraction is not an option DRESS LIKE THEM
2. body language. this varies from culture to culture, and even generationally. it is important to understand that, especially when considering a first meeting, at least 50% of the impression you'll leave is body language. not only do you have to look, stand, gesture, and motion in a genuine/honest fashion (i.e. don't look like a salesman with phony smiling and eye contact and posturing), but also you want to gesture the way they do. speaking with amish? i'd keep the wrist flaps to a minimum, dealing with a young father with a new family? energy and personality is going to get the job done.
