>>1174967It fucking sucks. It has turned literally my entire county from a wilderness into a fucking shithole. Entire hills have been leveled with the surrounding valleys filled up so that the well pads can be placed. They are everywhere. The water trucks run day and night. The drilling rig sounds never ever stop. I've been hearing them for 3 years now. A few farmers have already had their entire water system and multiple water wells ruined. There haven't been any tremors that I know of or heard of happening yet, but this is just the beginning for this area. I did pick up earthquake insurance just in case. The map of active and planned wells looks like someone threw sand on the map where every grain is a well.
The main thing is, they companies came to the local towns, set up meetings with everyone and threw money around like mad. The people who got fucked over have all sold everything and left. No one is speaking up since they can be bought off pretty easily. I lost most of my neighbors. Thankfully, my water well is fine so far and there's no well within half a mile yet, mostly due to one big millionaire family who has been buying up the other farms around me and preventing the well companies from drilling since they also buy the mineral rights from whoever happens to have them. They did the latter before the companies arrived because they knew it was going to happen or something.
Meanwhile, I've been developing my own biogas methane digester in order to replace utility natural gas. I'm hoping the drilling part will be done soon, my water well stays safe, and my newfound privacy with lack of neighbors stays the same. Fishing in the area is completely over though. The water trucks completely drained all lakes and ponds and all the fish are gone. A river is left, but they keep it down to a trickle and everything is super contaminated now anyway with signs up warning never to eat the fish from it.
