I bought some chink Naturehike tent off Amazon for $80. It's surprisingly decent quality, took it through colorado, Wyoming, and Montana and all over the Appalachians and it's held up. I think around 1-200$ is the sweet spot for something you'll be sleeping in with a spouse.
REI has some decent package deals where you get a bag and sleeping pad too and they seem fairly nice.
A cheapo Coleman tent is probably just not going to hold up
