>>340884>>It's also not designed for hiking and camping. It's designed to carry stuff on your back on long marches, especially in mountain area's. Isnt that what hiking is about?
>>Most military backpacks are worn quite high, so you can still fit plenty of stuff on your belt. The berghaus isnt designed for that. It's designed to put the load on your hips. Also modern day soldiers hardly if ever use belts anymore.
>>They're also designed for quick access of plenty things, which you don't need when hiking. It's a toploader. It has one main compartment and one extra slot in the cover. How is that designed for quick acces?
>>They're also reinforced with heavy material where you won't need it, because you won't be crawling on the ground, nor getting in and out of vehicles made mainly of steel. The frame is aluminum. The fabric is canvas,, this does add a bit to weight. It's not a UL space blanket bag. It's a rugger canvas pack so it weighs something, no big deal tho.
I get where you are going, and it would apply if we where talking about an ALICE pack or assaultpack. This pack isnt similar in any other way than military use. Look up some reviews and research the pack a bit before making claims like yours. There's good reason this pack is loved by the bushcraft community. The price is great, the quality is great it's just a little bit more heavy than a 300$ pack.
I sometimes feel out is populated by marketeers from 'Premium Outdoor Brands''. Most milsurp isnt great, however there are exceptions. The berghaus is one of them.
>>340881I've packed some stuff into both backpacks. On the left you see the Munro. It was absolutely stuffed with all that gear in. The vulcan filled up about 2/3rds, so you'd have plenty of space for food/water and raingear.
A karrimore sabre might be something for you aswell.
