I have always preferred using axes for everything though, even in situations where a saw might be more efficient. The main issue now days is that 99.9% of people have no idea how to use an axe, much less profile and sharpen one for its intended purpose before whipping it towards a piece of wood. The "bushcraft" community has done nothing but pump up demand for overpriced Swedish axes that they themselves don't use properly.
