I had not enough work, and my boss was incapable to get me stuff to do, or to get me introduced to his projects (as he should have) and he also was afraid of loosing me to another department by "lending" me to other folks who had way too much work.
And then he and the other managers were a bunch of pussies that could not tell all this to me aearlier, to maybe change something, instead they just kicked me out with a bullshit excuse after an agonising probabtion time, during which I always hoped that the planned transition into another office would change stuff to the better…
