from our backyard garden in August and fill two 2.5 gallon glass jugs about 3/4 full
of pitted sour cherries and add a bunch of sugar, then fill the jugs with Spirytus
(which they had to get from Chicago, as it wasn't available here in Detroit).
These jugs would then sit behind the basement bar until Christmas, when we'd have
a blow-out party and my parent's fellow ex-pat post-WWII Polish immigrant friends
would polish off _both_ jugs off in _one_ night.
Needless to say, there was a whole bunch of drunk-ass Polacks in our basement
partying the night away.
