Thanks for the opinions. Just got a fenwick eagle.i tried the pvc rod tube idea before, i need minimum 42" length tube to pack my current medium power rods, they're all 7' 2 piece. The 3 piece 6'6 will pack down to about 24". Much nicer for me to transport, and it comes with a rod case.
Unfortunately the duck has since passed away :(

I didn't consider the versatility of being able to lose the tag line with the weights... Seems useful I guess. I don't really mind re-rigging though, it's part of the fun

I always use braid because it feels better and casts smoother unless I'm like bottom fishing, in which case I just tie on a couple yards of leader
You can use whatever you like though it's all preference anyway.

I usually use mono or flouro leader though for abrasion and because it's harder to see in the water
