>>892690Alright u goddamn crab diddling piece of shit, Baltimore checking in here. Good to see another marylander here. I've thru hiked the Appalachian and Vermont long trails and do what I can in our area. The short version is that it sucks asshole here. I Highly recommend going someplace else to actually experience camping. There's too many people so everything is developed and what little there is that isn't takes hours to drive to. That said heres my shit list of places to go-
>Shenandoah NP is fine for beginner shit. They've got established camp sites, stores nearby for when you forget batteries and shit. Downside is the deer are pests and won't fuck off and it's crowded. >Some rando campsite in MD, midstate- will be fine, same story as Shenandoah, just not as scenic. Still crowded, probly will need reservation made now for sometime next year (seasons fill up fast, esp for decent spots). >Cape Henlopen DE- badass place, and my favorite. 2 min walk from secluded beach. Old WWII fortifications there that you can trespass on when dark. grocery store 15min bike ride away makes for delicious meals every night. fuck yeah. >Assateague- Near Ocean shitty, wild horses, fuck that place. These are all for bullshit park yer car and pull out the cooler camping. Which is what it sounds like youre looknig for. Just be sure to get reservations FAR IN ADVANCE. That shit fills up quick.
If you wanna put hair on your chest and not deal with minivan loads full of screaming children, try Dolly Sods wilderness in WV, an overnighter on the AT near Harpers Ferry or check out some of the small remote State Forests in PA (currently working my way through visiting all of them).
