The only thing I can think of, because I'm not very well familiar with the American situation, is hunting. Here in Slovenia, hunting is done by hunting families, organisations whose job it is to take care of feeding stations and take out any ill or infirm animals. They also build observation posts. The vast majority of hunters are over 60. For them, it's mainly about the camaraderie. They get the occasional trophy but there are rules about what sort of animals they can hunt and the days of poaching are mostly a thing of the past.
