The taut line hitch is a very good knot for setting up tarps as its adjustable and non slip.
To adjust all you have to do is apply pressure to the knot and move forward or backwards.
I usually use this knot to tie off & adjust one end of my tarp, I also use it for the lines going out to my tent pegs/
