>>1198202You dont need a boat (sort of) to fight an amberjack anon; You need a flotation device that will allow you to go say 400mtrs to half a km from the coast (a kayak, a cano or smthng), two or more heavy surf casting rods (sometimes classified as ultra heavy casting rods) 4,5-5,5 mtrs long, live cephalopod bait (squid or cuttle) a sturdy base 20000 reels and 1km of heavy pound braid (40-50lbs).
Arm your live bait with 3 to 4 hooks on 3mtrs braid leader (just use the same you use on the reels) conect it to a lead weight (i usualy opt for 150gr to 250gr depending on depth and curents).
Take your squid or cuttle in a small taper in the cayak and just slowly pudle to your target location while a friend helps from shore not to get any tangles, let it fall down as gently as possible, return get your favourite beach chair, a beer and just keep on looking at the tip of your rods (I also put little jingle bells on them). Getting an amberjack is not always assured (also has to do with the location time of day etc) but when you do you are going to shit your pants. The more rods you have the more area you can cover. Results are not always guaranted (went last sunday got nothing). Getting the squid or cuttle yourself adds to the adventure.
Disclamer never do it if the weather is shit, dont put your self in danger never attemp anything alone
