our forests are more fire prone currently, partially due to poor fire fuels management, but the seasons of drought and increased temperatures have really done a number.
as other anons said already, oily invasive plants, climate change, lack of prescribed burning, lack of grazing on brush/range land, and LA and SF drinking the state dry have really created a perfect storm.
all the environmental laws do more harm than good in some of these cases. doesnt help that people keep rebuilding in fire prone areas, and not building wisely at that
