The military one is pretty small, I installed dowels on either either end to act as spreader bars.
Overall a Grand Trunk will serve you better, especially if you happen to be big'n tall. The canvas Rothco/military surplus hammock (with spreader bars) will hold an insulating sleeping pad quite well, the nest-style hammocks will not, with those you'll want an underquilt.
Check Snugpak - they also have pretty nonexpensive hammies with bug nets... other brands are Warbonnet, ENO, DD
