A wilderness ranger actually gets out in the field pretty consistently and does inventory/contacts.
I work developed rec/trails. I'm probably 80% field-going but that's because I'm a GS-6 crew lead. My position starts at $17.26/hr. Took me four seasons working as a 1039 seasonal employee to get a permanent position.
