Alright, I've got my alpine/trout/backpacking rod and reel (Daiwa 6' 6" Spinmatic, Daiwa QR 750, 4LB mono/FC leader) and I'm incredibly happy with it (pictured, caught 8 that day).
Now I want something a little heavier for freshwater bass. From what I can gather, a 7' ML fast rod with 10-12LB braid on 2000-size reel is the sweet spot. Does that sound right to you guys?
As we get closer to salmon season (again, fishing freshwater) I want to get a third setup for them too, something that could also be used for steelhead if at all possible. I know less about this, something around 8' either M or MH? 25-30LB braid on a 3000?
Basically, these are the three main types of fishing I do and I want a decent (around $100, nothing fancy) setup that would work for each.
Help me out, bros. I'm looking at sticking with Japanese brands, either Daiwa or Shimano. Of all of the ancient gear I inherited from my Dad, that stuff is what really withstood the test of time. Superior Nippon steel, etc.
