The reason I say to mod a hat with snaps is because most of the boonie hats I've seen from the civilian market that come with snaps installed are cheap no-brand knockoffs on Amazon made with inferior quality materials. Some of them are fine, I'm sure, but I cannot vouch for them. Get either a military surplus hat or a Tru-Spec hat and with a little extra work you'll have a hat that will be good for most /out/ situations.
Avoid the inferior bucket hat unless you are only going to wear it for fishing. Put lures in the webbing to demonstrate your true grandpa status.
