The bartacks are organized/sewn along to reflect how it will fit on your shoulders, that's how it works and why it's comfortable. Your "too dense" is opposite of what is actually true. Only thing I would criticize is that it is of different color than the rest of a pack and that it has tendency to fluff up a bit, but that's purely cosmetics.
