>>2303580>I'd recommend Grayson Highlands thoughI've driven up white top before. I try to avoid the appalachian trail personally because it is a more developed area and more crowded relative to the allegheny/cumberland plateau area to the west.
Sort of funny to say that and all of my current pix are tidewater, piedmont, or ridge-and-valley like yours are - but when the snow is off the roads fully - I am excited to drive back out unto the plateaus - they feel special to me.
Also most things on the plateau aren't really crowded - except Dolly Sods on summer/fall weekends I guess because its one of the closest drives to backpacking trails on the plateau from DC/Pittsburgh/Baltimore areas.
I'm hopeful to explore more of the plateau in southern wv/far eastern ky/that weird part of tn that's nearby/also far western va - this year when it warms up
