>>830947Are you using lures or live bait? If you set the hook faster you can prevent it. Larger hooks may help a little as well. To get the gut hooks out, I use a pair of forceps with this curve on them. Not sure what they are called, my mom works in the OR and gets them from work. But sometimes those combined with the right balance of finesse and force can get them out.
Unfortunately this can fuck up the fish if you hook them bad but the fish is gonna die if you cut the line anyway so I would rather not throw them back with a hook still in them.
>>830950Don't worry, I wouldn't expect a $30 Shishamo to be anything other than shit. It's just funny how much they claim. I'm sure the things will work for a bit, but most fishing reels from major brands (even lower end models) should last decades if taken care of.
