Lures for carp are typically worms like "Foam Trouser Worm". Live bait is of course actual worms. Carp are bottom feeders and eat mostly invertebrates and plants depending on cap species. Some people use a lure that looks like drifting algae, "Carp Scum Fly". Other species of carp will hammer small minnow-sized baitfish and lures imitating those.
