>>444790It was the rough dirt and streets that made my feet hurt. Either those surfaces made the side of my heels inflamed, or something different about walking on hard surfaces barefoot gave me some plantar fasciosis.
Anyways, I never had a problem with heel/side foot pain wearing thin minimalist shoes, and my feet feel ok walking in then now. Expecting the pain to go away soon as well as both arches to continue to get stronger with use. Wearing any shoes with elevated heel feels uncomfortable now, and have grown to like the feel of my feet feeling the ground I walk on.
Lems and VFF are basically like marefoto style shoes, it feels like walking barefoot on a thin layer of rubber. The first ones I got were the New Balance minimus, but I stopped using them after a few weeks because they toes were too tight, then before wearing vibrams all the time I got Altra Instinct, which has wide toe space, zero drop despite the thick stack height, but still has too much arch cushioning and toe spring to allow for natural movement. Tired Merrel trail glove in the store, and it seemed to have a lot of arch cushioning, and also narrow to space. Acquired the lems yesterday and wore them today, and am very impressed. Walking feels natural and comfortable, I can wear to spacers (to undo the smashing form years of wearing tight athletic shoes) and they look like normal shoes that can be worn with anything.
