They also have trouble with the tiny ticks like deer ticks. Sometimes you can find an opossum fucking covered in them like a walking nightmare tick factory. Ground birds eat more ticks than any other animal type. They even eat deer ticks. That's why you hear people talking about chickens and guineafowl getting rid of ticks on their property. The main problem is that outdoor domestic cats have almost destroyed ground bird populations in most areas where people frequent. If you get rid of the outdoor cats then ground bird populations can increase and you'll see a decrees in tick populations.
Do your part. Get rid of outdoor cats. Help ground birds reestablish so they can get rid of high tick populations.
