>>2291741Nice! Medkit is not anything to write hone about, but with some modifications they are usable. Binoculars are easily the most "useless" weight that I carry, but I love the opportunity to see long distances.
>>2291913No need for that. Backpack is stable and easy to carry. Not really mountaineer, so no need to worry about that. I havent had any problems with stability
>>2292110It could be in other armies, but Finnish Army does have a decades of experience in fieldcraft and wilderness skills. It is considered to be useless to march perfectly as Germans do, if your real soldiers skills are lacking. That is why there is very little parade or any other training but shitton of field excercises and training. That is why when you see finnish parade the marching is not top notch, but they are deadly on the field. You can watch videos of them and decide yourself if this is useless training:
https://youtu.be/JeKPIRopsAQ There once were an officer who yelled to me that I did not use my army issued winter boots but rather used my owns, but that kind of thing is rare.
And equipmentwise almost anything that finnish army gives you related to winter is as good or better that you can have in shops. They do not cheap out when it comes to winter equipment. I bought my own Carinthia sleeping bag after the military because it was just that good, and the heated tents "puolijoukkueteltta" have been in use almost 100 years soon, as there is not better alternative. (Not the same tents, but the technology is exactly the same). Ww2 finnish soldier could feel at home in modern day heated tent, because they are the same :D Pic related.
