>>19022>Have you ever had an encounter with a bear?fuckin bears
>deer hunting last fall in the kootenay region (east BC, griz country). a few years before this two hunters were killed by a griz while elk hunting in the same area (that bear was tracked and killed)>had a couple deer hanging in our camp after the first few days... great hunting (got a 3X3 WT buck with my bow!)>have a big bonfire going at night, drinking a ton and havin a good time since we are so successful so far>periodically we stumble out into the dark to take a piss, theres also an outhouse we built about 100 yards away for the ladies>running low on firewood but we know where there is plently more just a short drive away>girlfriends dad goes with another guy in the truck to go grab it>i see some odd shadow moving in the very corner of the headlights>ask "what the hell was that? was that a bear?">get made fun of for just seeing shit >the guys in the truck come back with the fire wood>ask them if they saw anything>one of them saw movement too>we get out our emergency spotlight and shine it across the field>fucking grizzly bear is standing on its hind legs, less than 30 yards away with two cubs>we fucking panic, bear clearly smells the deer and is being aggressive>we all book to our guns, i get mine first and fire a round overs its head>bear gets startled, cubs run off>others join me and join in shooting>bear finally runs off>realize we were wandering around in the dark the entire night, with a griz hanging around.we agreed that if it came back, we would just shoot it, we never saw it again but another two hunters told us they saw it following a trail, we had just packed a deer out on the trail, about 20 min prior.
I carried my rifle for the rest of the trip, as a backup incase i saw it while bow hunting.
pic related, muley does hanging around our camp, about the same distance as the bear was
