Sometimes it's shitbags just being shitbags, wanting to get into something they're not supposed to and cause a little mayhem. Other times it's copper thieves (cables/wire, grounding busbars are a big target). Sometimes it's druggies/homeless/undesireables.
Every now and then there's the adventure-seekers who want to climb the tower "just because". I can't blame them too much for that, it's part of why I got into the job. But them doing so without training/equipment puts huge liability on site owners/operators, and there's the risk of damage to the equipment on the tower.
Nowadays, just about every site's got cameras and alarms on it. I know as soon as someone's on the site, even just wandering around looking at things.
