>>145995>>146038yeah i've been surrounded plenty of times and i'm never really worried, just creeped-out i suppose... it's quite ominous. i have considered using an "injured coyote pup" call, but that seems rather stupid. either way they don't hurt people, especially if you're camped-down and with a fire.
also that coyote pup is cuter'n bunnies. their dens are notoriously hard to find, even rangers on national/state parks seldom find them. i've taken a few expeditions much further than my camp into the deep innawoods, and although i found plenty of signs (dug-up earth, chewed-up pieces of garbage, scat, carrion bones and one time an actual coyote skull) i never found a den.
>>146030the chains are very convenient, and i use them for lots of other things besides the hammock. so i just had them and this wasn't a long hike and i was only staying a couple days, so i brought them *shrug*
my nextpedition i'll be scaling a tree and i use the chains to help secure my harness around a limb so i can hang there and relax without worrying about tying off the rope with one free hand
