My latest directly /out/-related purchase was a guide book called Utah Thirteeners that has info on peak climbing in my state. I finished buying my gear several years ago, though, so these days I don't really buy interesting outdoor gear, aside from depletables like aqua mira, and maps.
However, I have bought some tangentially-related outdoors gear recently, namely:
>saddlebags and windscreen for motorcycle (for getting to outdoors destinations and scenic drives through purdy mountains 'n shit)
>.357 magnum revolver and holster (for general shootin' 'n fun in the outdoors)
>20mm f/1.8 Canon lens (for all dem purdy pictures of stars at night, and waterfalls from close up)
>over a grand in repairs to my Yukon (for getting to outdoors destinations without a breakdown)
