Shepherd's axe (aka ciupaga, rąbanica, valaska, fokos, baltag, and a few other names) is basically a light axe with a long haft that doubles as a walking stick. Makes a lot easier to transport if, instead of carrying the damn thing, you can use it to make walking easier, especially in the mountains.
In Poland, Slovakia, and Chech Republic, they are mostly associated with highlanders (and highland robbers). Mostly used in traditional highlander dancing, and sold by the handful as souvenirs (at least in Zakopane) - mostly in cheap, all-wood, or otherwise non-functional versions, but you can buy forged, usable ones as well. Maybe not as fancy as the one I posted, but for a fraction of the price.
It doesn't have the chopping power of a full forester's axe, but it works just fine. Here's a vid from Simon on the shepherd's axe:
