>>178086Fair enough. Things like a seax never seemed to have had full length or width tangs. Metal was too precious to waste in the part of the knife where you could use hardwood. The tang in your pic would have been enclosed in wood or leather.
One of these days I'm gonna do a reproduction of the Seax of Beagnoth or the Sittingbourne Seax (pic related) just to have one. I think I'll also scale the Sittingbourne down to make an innawoods knife. I played with the dimensions a bit and it looks like it would work nicely.
