>>2663060>Would this reproduction german mess tin be safe to cook in or is it gonna be radioactive aluminium-lead alloy Chinese shit?I personally would not use those chinese repros. The workmanship is often poor on those, leaking rivets etc. just get yourself a true milsurp messkit if you want a messkit. Modern camping cookware is both easier to use and lighter, I have a Finnish messkit and a round polish mess kit. Round is easier to work with. The traditional kidney shape is there to make it smaller in profile when tied on to a combat harness, but that's about it.
>>2663060Depends on who I am going out with. If I go out with my gf (soon to be wife), then I will take my trangia 25. If I go alone, then I will take my one person kit, which is shown in the picture.
>1 litre primus litech trekpot>optimus crux stove (quieter than the MSR pocket rocket 2)>optimus clip on wind shield>msr pot stand>small and big fold-a-cup>sea to summit spork and small spoon>soldatenmesser 08>LMF ferro rod>butane lighter>some ecological dish washing liquid and a sponge & napkin to function as a dish towel>a self made wire pot hanger so that I could use my pot on a campfire, if needed>750ml titanium cup with a lid to function as a secondary cooking vessel, stacked with my helikon-tex nalgene copyWith this set I could prepare about anything I'd see myself eating. I like to prepare pasta sides with canned meats, canned kebab with rice, canned meatballs with pasta, porridges etc The nalgene and the cup stays on my belt in it's dedicated pouch, the rest of the kit goes in to my backpack. I haven't weighed it so I can't say how much it weighs in total. Sometimes I go out with a trangia triangle, a titanium cup and a bottle of methylated spirits. I don't always keep the same set with me. I admit that I have a tendency to consoom, I know I could manage with less stuff.
