They're fairly tough skinned too so an FMJ mightn't be as bigger disadvantage as you'd think, most of the time they will have an inch or two of dried mud on top of a lot of gristle underneath the skin you need bullets that won't just blow up on the outside like some lighter HP/SPs can do.
Also if you have a heap of FMJ ammo you want to use for hunting you can try chopping the tips off to turn them into a nigger-rigged SP rounds. I've done it before for old ex-military .303 rounds, just double check that they continue to feed properly.
