He goes, I talk to him about it afterwards. Doesn't want to talk about it. Doesn't for a good several months. Eventually get him drunk and he says something chased him and his friend out of Elkmont. Said he couldn't see the thing, but it sounded like a dog or wolf, said it was right in front of him and it chased them back to their car. He thanked God it was unlocked, they nearly dove in, shone their lights out but didn't see a thing.
He doesn't ghost hunt or talk about spirits like he used to.
That's just two stories. There's a lot of stuff that happens up there. I don't know why or if there's anything behind it. And it's not just me. Took GF, a no-nonsense person with a much straighter head than I, and hiked the Chimneys. Sun was setting before we reached the bottom and it was dark for the last quarter mile. Right as it started to set, she looks over at the adjoining hill and stops. Says, "do you see that? Someone was up there. They were watching us".
This happened just a few months ago, so I get her to hurry out of there. "We need to be out before sundown or they'll tow the car," I lie. She swears he was up there just a moment ago. I didn't see anyone.
