Question: I'm trying to germinate a pecan nut tree (chestnut?), so I took the classic route of breaking the pointy tip, wrapping the nut in wet paper, and let it grow.
A week later.
Out of 6 nuts, 1 haven't germinated and have this green mold thing, so I have to put it apart from the others.
4 are growing as expected, with the white root thing, and the woody shell ripping from one tip to the other.
Here's the question: the last one have a bit of both cases. It have this white root thing growing, small and slow, but it's clear it's there. However, it also have this green mold thing, and I think some type of fungus is also there. It's black and gray with a cotton like texture growing next to it.
So, do you think is going to be viable and should be keep in paper until it grows bigger, or should I discard it?
