My /out/ knife for years was a Gerber Gator (straight blade) that I got when I was 12 in 1998, that got stolen by a "friend" after I loaned it to him for a NOLS course. My current go-to is a SAK 08 or a Mora 612... But I'm a hiker, not a camper or a bushcraft aficionado, so I don't need a big bushcraft blade.
What you want in a knife is entirely dependent on what you find yourself using a knife for most often, I've got 3k or so hiking miles under my belt, and I honestly have very, very rarely needed a knife for anything.
