As for poly leaders, those are generally not for Skagit setups; it's to make ordinary fly lines ind sometimes scandi lines in to sink tips. You could also swing wet flies if you wanted to.

As for leaving your old man behind, Don worry about that, have him run spinners and spoons to cover water so you can dial in and drift the primo stuff and clean up behind him. Don't forget to smash your barb and there's no excuse for using less than 8lb line
